Our Mission
Heerkens Veterinary Relief Services "HVRS" was founded in June 2020 by Dr. Tammy Heerkens. Her passion for veterinary medicine and awareness of staffing shortages led her to embark on this journey. Shortly thereafter, her husband Dr. Jordan Bader, joined her as a partner and co-owner to further support the needs of Hawaii's veterinary community.
Our mission is to supply local veterinary clinics with both veterinarians and veterinary technicians on a relief basis. We proudly offer high-quality care, competitive rates, and minimal travel expenses. Combined we provide over 20 years of small animal experience with over 7 of those years being practiced on Oahu.

Dr. Tammy Heerkens
Owner / Veterinarian
Tammy was born and raised in Canada where she received her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Guelph, Ontario Veterinary College. She later completed a small animal rotating internship at Iowa State University. Since then, Dr. Heerkens has worked and traveled abroad for over 11 years. Her focus is emergency & critical care and internal medicine.
